NEW YORK - Joel Embiid scored 42 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 147-143 away win over the Indiana Pacers on Monday.
The Sixers remain in third place in the NBA Eastern Conference with a 42-22 record.
It was a seesaw game, with the lead changing hands dozens of times.
Philadelphia kept a slender lead in the fourth quarter before going on to secure the win.
Tyrese Maxey added 24 points and Jalen McDaniels 20 for the Sixers. James Harden collected 14 points but made 20 assists.
Tyrese Haliburton scored a team-high 40 points for the Pacers.

In a heavyweight clash of the Eastern Conference, Donovan Mitchell poured in 40 points to help the Cleveland Cavaliers upset the Boston Celtics 118-114 in overtime.
Boston missed stars Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Robert Williams III.

In the fourth quarter, Mitchell drained two free throws with 5.8 seconds to tie the game at 109-109.
Boston got the chance of two free throws after Lamar Stevens fouled Grant Williams at the basket with less than a second left on the clock.
However, Williams missed two free throws, sending the game into overtime.
Mitchell exchanged words with Williams, who was preparing to take his free throws. Mitchell admitted later he was "trying to mess with him mentally."

After the defeat, Boston remain second in the Eastern Conference, two games adrift of leaders Milwaukee. Cleveland remain in fourth place.
Elsewhere, the Miami Heat edged the Atlanta Hawks 130-128, the Denver Nuggets downed the Toronto Raptors 118-113, and the Detroit Pistons defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 110-104.
