COPENHAGEN - Defending champions Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan, and Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, are one victory away from making history at the BWF World Championships, as the two Chinese pairs secured their places in the women's doubles and mixed doubles finals respectively here on Saturday.
Both pairs arrived in the Danish capital with three worlds titles to their names, and now they have chances to claim a record fourth.
Chen and Jia defeated their Chinese compatriots Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu 21-14, 21-16, setting up a final with Indonesia's Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, while Zheng and Huang also emerged victorious in an all-Chinese clash, outlasting debutants Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin 21-18, 21-16 to progress.

"We were so familiar with our opponents today. We trained together in the national team and faced each other a lot in recent competitions, so we all knew each other's tactics very well, and the match all depended on our on-court performance," said Jia after the semifinal.
Zhang and Zheng tried to fight back in the second game, surging to a 6-3 lead only to see the Olympic silver medalists snatch six points in a row to turn it around.
Zheng and Huang will encounter fifth-seeded Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung in the final as the South Korean pair saw off last year's finalists Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino of Japan 21-15, 21-13 to make their maiden worlds final
The sixth seeds closed the gap to only one point at 12-11, but Chen and Jia produced another 4-0 run to put the match out of their opponents' reach.
"I was very nervous at the start with too many thoughts in my mind, which made it hard for me to handle it. Jia could feel that my hands were cold," Chen admitted after the match.
Zhang and Zheng, who are playing their second World Championships as a pair, have set their own best record in the tournament.
"We have met some difficulties in the tournament, we overcame some of them and failed at others. But what we did well was that we always trusted each other and were resolute to win. Finishing with a bronze medal could also give us more confidence for the future," Zheng said.

Rahayu and Ramadhanti saw off third-seeded Kim So-yeong and Kong Hee-yong of South Korea 21-9, 22-20.

Zheng and Huang needed 37 minutes to dispatch Jiang and Wei, to whom the current world No. 1 duo had lost twice consecutively prior to Saturday.
"To be honest, we rarely lost to a pair twice in a row. But in the previous two meetings, we didn't find a way to defeat them," Zheng said.

"This time we prepared a lot, making some game plans to have changes. It turned out to have worked well," Huang added.
In the women's singles semifinal, 2016 Rio Olympic champion Carolina Marin made a strong comeback to knock out title holder Akane Yamaguchi to reach her fourth final at the worlds. The 30-year-old has won all previous three finals in the tournament.
Marin will take on An Se-young in the title showdown as the top seed beat Chen Yufei of China 21-19, 21-15 to make her first worlds final.
