HANGZHOU - Zuo Tong of China claimed the women's all-around gymnastics title with a score of 53.565 points at the Hangzhou Asian Games here on Wednesday.

Japan's Mana Okamura finished second with 52.898 and Kim Su Jong of DPR Korea took bronze on 51.466.

Zuo performed steadily throughout her routines on four apparatuses. Her total included 12.833 on the vault, 13.733 on the uneven bars, 13.833 on the balance beam, 13.166 on the floor.

"Being able to win the gold medal today, I am obviously very thrilled. It has been a tough journey. I'd like to thank everybody for your support," Zuo said.

Title favorite Zhang Jin fell from the uneven bars three times and only scored 10.100 points. The crowds kept cheering for Zhang, who fell to 10th after finishing the uneven bars. The 22-year-old calmed down to finish fourth with 50.899.

"I am especially grateful to the audience, who encouraged me so much. No matter what, they are cheering me on," Zhang said.

"At that time, I felt a bit nervous and after my teammate Zhang suffered a few falls, I was a bit scared, to be honest, but I was able to adjust my mindset. Neither of us gave up and we kept focusing on our own routines," Zuo said.

Japan's Kohane Ushioku injured her legs during the warm-up session before the competition started and was sent to hospital immediately.
