BEIJING - The Beijing Ducks defeated the Shanxi Loongs 103-97, while the Liaoning Flying Leopards beat the Guangdong Southern Tigers 106-97 as the two winners kept their winning record intact in four games in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Sunday.
In their match away to Shanxi, Ernest Raden's side scored only 44 points at halftime, while bouncing back in the second half and somewhat unlocking some new methods to win.
Different from their 23 three-pointers in a romp over the Sichuan Blue Whales, Beijing only made four out of 26 attempts behind the arc on Sunday, but some drive-ins and swings not commonly seen before helped them to the win.
Ty Leaf led Beijing's boxscore with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Fan Ziming added 19 points and eight rebounds. Young gun Zeng Fanbo continued to grow at a good pace, taking 16 points. Veteran Fang Shuo once again reminded the league not to sleep on him as the 33-year-old guard made two crucial 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
