Brooks records triple-double as Guangdong extend CBA winning streak

XI'AN, China - Marshon Brooks posted 19 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists as the Guangdong Southern Tigers clinched their ninth Chinese Basketball Association League (CBA) victory in a row, defeating the Beijing Ducks 106-95 on Wednesday.

Du Runwang had 18 points and three rebounds for Guangdong, and Xu Jie added 14.

Zhai Xiaochuan led Beijing with 20 points, plus 11 rebounds.

When Zhou Qi was absent, Xu Xin took over his position and scored four points early in the clash.

Xu Jie inspired an 8-0 run midway in the third quarter as Guangdong pulled away to establish a double-digit advantage. Beijing narrowed the gap to four before the forth quarter.

A 6-0 run lifted Beijing to 82-81 with 7:56 to play, but Guangdong responded with a 12-3 spurt to seal the victory.

The Beijing Ducks' city rivals, the Beijing Royal Fighters smashed the Fujian Sturgeons 113-96.

Seven players of the Royal Fighters scored 10 plus points, with Zhang Fan posting a team-high 21.

On the Fujian side, Eugene German bagged 35 points, but he couldn't stop his team from losing three games consecutively.

In other games on Wednesday, the Tianjin Pioneers defeated the Sichuan Blue Whales 121-103, the Shanghai Sharks won over the Guangzhou Loong Lions 106-99, the Shandong Heroes beat the Ningbo Rockets 113-95 and the Xinjiang Flying Tigers edged the Jiangsu Dragons 93-89.
