LONDON - Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus made a return as Arsenal got back in the Premier League title race on Saturday with a 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace.

Gabriel Magalhaes headed Arsenal into an 11th-minute lead and helped it double the lead eight minutes before halftime when his header ended up in the Palace net off the back of visiting goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Leandro Trossard added a third goal in the 59th minute on Jesus' assist after David Raya started a counter-attack with a throw from the back, and Gabriel Martinelli added two late goals in the 94th and 95th minutes.

Crystal Palace has now just one win from its last 12 games in all competitions to pile the pressure on veteran coach Roy Hodgson

"It was a brilliant performance from the team and we needed a game like that: we know our quality and we believe in ourselves and we showed what we can do”, Martinelli said after the game.

Crystal Palace has now just one win from its last 12 games in all competitions to pile the pressure on veteran coach Roy Hodgson.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney had a hero's return after an eight-month suspension for betting as he helped inspire his side to a 3-2 victory at home to Nottingham Forest and end a seven-game run without a win.

Danilo's volley put Forest ahead in the third minute, but Toney celebrated his return with the equalizing goal from a low 19th-minute free-kick that he curled into the corner of the net.

Ben Mee headed Brentford ahead after 58 minutes, but Chris Wood leveled for the visitors seven minutes later.

Neal Maupay won the match just three minutes later when he controlled a cross and scored into the far corner of the net, with the goal given after a VAR check.

"I'm so glad to be back playing with the lads. I've missed it so much - the fans, everything - and the boys fully deserved the result. I'm glad for Neal to get the winner because he works hard in training and we've got a partnership. I'm sure we'll get a lot of goals together”, commented Toney at the final whistle.

There are two games on Sunday with Sheffield United at home to West Ham, while league leaders Liverpool has a difficult visit to Bournemouth.
