BEIJING - The Fujian Sturgeons won a hard-fought game against the Jiangsu Dragons 110-108 in the Chinese Basketball Association league regular season on Thursday.
Alpha Kaba scored the first points for Jiangsu, with Fujian's Thon Maker soon following up. Eugene German then led a ferocious 10-0 run for Fujian, widening the gap to eight points and pushing it to 30-17 into the second quarter.
Also on Thursday, the Guangzhou Loong Lions cruised past the Qingdao Eagles 108-98
Though being oppressed by German's three-pointers, both Jalen Riley and Ni Yongkang spearheaded a 9-0 run for Jiangsu to cut the deficit to seven. Jiang Haoran and Cui Xiaolong combined their shots to narrow the gap further until the last period.
Riley poured in three-pointers to tie at 92-92 with only two minutes left. After an exchange of long range shots, the game went into the overtime at 98-all. As Zou Yang blocked the final layup of Riley, Fujian secured the final victory.
German had 24 points for Fujian, with Zou Yang and Maker both achieving a "double-double", making 35 points and 24 rebounds combined.
For Jiangsu, Liu Zhixuan scored 15 points, followed by Kaba's 13 and Wu Yujia's 11 points.
Also on Thursday, the Guangzhou Loong Lions cruised past the Qingdao Eagles 108-98.
