PARIS — Victor Osimhen scored his 12th goal of the season to help Lille win 2-0 at Angers on Friday in the opening game of matchday 24 in the French Ligue 1.
Last year's runners-up pull even with third-placed Rennes in the standings after their third successive league win, which boosts their hopes for a spot in the Champions League next year.

Rennes have a chance to restore their three-point lead on Saturday when they host 14th placed Brest.
Nigerian striker Osimhen opened the scoring for the visitors in the 14th minute after a VAR review ruled the 21-year-old was not offside. Renato Sanches doubled the lead 15 minutes from time with a low shot from just inside the box.

Angers, after suffering a three-game losing streak, sit in 13th place with 30 points.
