BEIJING - Construction on a forest park for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing's northern district of Yanqing has resumed, local authorities said on Thursday.

Construction work at the Winter Olympic Forest Park, which has a planned area of around 100 hectares, started in April last year, and the venue was planned to open at the end of this year, with nearly half of the construction of the project's first phase having been completed.

According to the plan, the park will be integrated into the local landscape, displaying the culture of the Winter Olympics and providing a recreation area for residents and tourists.

A conservation base covering around 20 hectares is also under construction. This will house more than 22,000 protected plants that are to be transplanted from areas where venue construction is taking place.
