146 HK people stranded in Morocco seek help

HONG KONG - The Immigration Department on Wednesday said that it has received calls for help from a total of 146 Hong Kong residents, including 70 traveling in tour groups, stranded in Morocco.

Morocco on Sunday suspended all international passenger flights to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The department said it has given the Hong Kong people in Morocco advice and assistance while the Security Bureau is gathering information on local flights.

The authority has contacted the Chinese Embassy in Morocco, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, Security Bureau and related travel agencies for help and will keep a close watch on the progress.

Local media in Hong Kong said around 20 residents stuck in Morocco are from Goldjoy Holidays travel agency. The agency declined to comment.
