KABUL - The prisoners swap between the Afghan government and the Taliban, which was planned to take place on Tuesday, has been postponed as no Taliban delegation arrived in Kabul, spokesman for the National Security Council Javid Faisal said on his Twitter account.

The Taliban outfit demanded the release of 5,000 detainees within 10 days as agreed in the peace deal inked with the US in Doha

The government and the Taliban side on Sunday held a video conference for the third time and the Taliban agreed to send a team to Kabul for further technical discussion, according to Faisal.

The Taliban delegation assisted by the International Committee of the Red Cross will be the guests of the Afghan government during its stay in the country.

The Taliban outfit demanded the release of 5,000 detainees within 10 days as agreed in the peace deal inked with the United States in Doha on Feb 29, while the Afghan government sought a phased release of the prisoners, with a reduction in violence and eventually to a ceasefire across the country.

Under the Doha deal, 5,000 Taliban and 1,000 Afghan security personnel should be exchanged to facilitate direct talks between the two sides for a solution to the country's prolonged conflict.
