HONG KONG – The city recorded three new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, all imported from overseas, bringing the tally to 1,047.
The city has seen no new locally transmitted infections for 21 straight days.
In an earlier press briefing, head of the Department of Health's Communicable Disease Branch Chuang Shuk-kwan once told reporters that if no local infection is reported in the following week, the city may declare an end to local transmissions.

Two of the newly infected patients entered Hong Kong from Pakistan on Saturday. Both are male, aged 57 and 54 respectively. Upon arrival, they were admitted to the quarantine center and then tested positive for the virus.
Another patient is a 69-year-old woman returning from the United Kingdom. One of her family members was diagnosed to have contracted the disease on March 27 in the UK.
Another 15 patients were discharged from the hospital on Sunday. A total of 981 patients of the disease have recovered and discharged from hospitals, along with one who was suspected to have been infected.
