June 24th has also been put forward as a possible return date as players need to recover match fitness after a two-month lay-off in which they have been limited to working at home.

15 teams from the Spanish top-flight, including Sevilla, Valladolid, Espanyol and the Copa del Rey finalists, Athletic Club Bilbao and Real Sociedad all trained on Wednesday, with the players all keeping a safe distance from each other and their coaches while following strict hygiene rules.

Valladolid were working after two players gave positive results in the PCR tests to detect the presence of the coronavirus. The pair had low levels of the virus in their blood and although they were without symptoms, they will not be able to train for a fortnight.
