Chinese mainland sees 20 new COVID-19 cases, all imported

BEIJING - No new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Sunday across the Chinese mainland while 20 new imported cases were posted, the National Health Commission said Monday.

Of the new imported cases, 10 were reported in Shanghai, three in Sichuan, two each in Inner Mongolia and Fujian, and one each in Shanxi, Jiangsu and Guangdong, the commission said in its daily report.

No new suspected cases or additional deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission said.

Seven patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said, adding that there were 208 patients still being treated.

By the end of Sunday, a total of 2,921 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,713 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 208 remained hospitalized, with one in severe condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

So far, a total of 85,470 confirmed cases had been reported on the mainland, including 80,628 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, the commission said.

There were a total of six suspected cases on the mainland, the commission said, while 8,013 close contacts were still under medical observation after 523 were released from observation.

Twenty-seven new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland, were reported on Sunday.

The commission said 369 asymptomatic cases, including 367 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.

By Sunday, 5,113 confirmed cases, including 105 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 cases in the Macao SAR, and 517 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 4,861 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR, 46 in the Macao SAR, and 484 in Taiwan, had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
