Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.04 percent at 3,359.75 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.66 percent higher at 13,798.58 points.
The combined turnover of the two bourses shrank to 834.94 billion yuan (about US$124.07 billion) from 971.4 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Most stocks fell Tuesday, with losers outnumbering gainers by 892 to 515 on the Shanghai bourse, and by 1,122 to 1,058 in Shenzhen.
Shares related to vaccines and medical equipment led the gains, with Chongqing Zhengchuan Pharmaceutical Packaging Co. Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 76.43 yuan per share.
Companies in the tourism and securities sectors led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.26 percent to close at 2,784.72 points Tuesday.
