ZHUJI, China - Sun Minghui scored a game-high 41 points as the Zhejiang Lions overwhelmed the Shanghai Sharks 122-94 in the first round of the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA) on Sunday.
Dai Huaibo scored team-high 27 points and grabbed five rebounds as Jilin Northeast Tigers defeated Nanjing Monkey Kings 105-97
Zhejiang's Hu Jinqiu had a double-double with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Luo Hanchen grabbed a team-high 20 points for Shanghai, Jimmer Fredette contributed 14 points, Marcus Edward Denmon only got one point and had five turnovers.
The Shenzhen Aviators defeated the Sichuan Blue Whales 93-83. Local rising star Yang Linyi of Shenzhen pocketed 24 points, plus seven rebounds. Gu Quan contributed 19 points and two assists for the Aviators.
"We didn't do good enough facing both the zone defense tactic and the full court press, we should make some improvements," said Shenzhen's head coach Qiu Biao in the post-match media conference.

Nanjing's Xiralijan Muhtar collected 13 points and 10 assists but failed to bring victory to Nanjing.
"Our defense was weak in the fourth quarter and on the offense, we committed too many mistakes," Dai said after the game. "We will summarize through video after the game."
In the other two games, Shanxi Loongs edged Fujian Sturgeons 99-92. Zhou Qi had 26 points and 10 rebound as the Xinjiang Flying Tigers cruised past Guangzhou Loong Lions.
