BEIJING - China and the Vatican have agreed to extend the provisional agreement on the appointment of bishops for two years after friendly negotiations by the two sides, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Thursday.
Zhao made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to a query by the press. He said the agreement was reached on Thursday.
China and the Vatican will maintain close communication and consultation to constantly advance the process of improving bilateral ties, said Zhao.
