Virus: Mainland reports no new local cases, 15 imported

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland on Monday reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said Tuesday.

Six of the new imported cases were posted in Sichuan, four in Shanghai, three in Guangdong, and one each in Tianjin and Shandong

Fifteen fresh imported cases were posted, of which six were reported in Sichuan, four in Shanghai, three in Guangdong, and one each in Tianjin and Shandong, the commission said in its daily report. 

There were no newly reported suspected cases or deaths, according to the commission.

Another 36 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, it said, adding that 353 others were still receiving treatment, of whom four were in severe condition.

By the end of Monday, a total of 3,716 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Among them, 3,382 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 334 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

Overall, the Chinese mainland has reported 86,361 confirmed cases in total, including 81,374 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, according to the commission.

There were two suspected cases on the mainland by Monday, the commission said, adding that there were 13,995 close contacts under medical observation.

Meanwhile, Monday also saw 12 new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland. Three cases, all imported, were re-categorized as confirmed cases on the same day.

A total of 512 asymptomatic cases, of which 406 were imported, were still under medical observation, according to the commission.

By the end of Monday, 5,466 confirmed cases, including 108 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while the Macao SAR had recorded 46 cases, and Taiwan had seen 603 cases, including seven deaths.

A total of 5,198 patients in the Hong Kong SAR, 46 in the Macao SAR and 536 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
