Jiangsu routs Meizhou, Tianjin edges past Guizhou in CFA Cup

SUZHOU, China - Jiangsu Suning, winner of the 2020 Chinese Super League, smashed Meizhou Hakka 7-2, while Tianjin Teda defeated Guizhou Hengfeng 1-0 in the Chinese Football Association (CFA) Cup here on Friday.

Meizhou's defense was overrun for the entire 90 minutes with Xie Pengfei and Zhang Cheng both scoring twice, with Feng Boyuan, Li Ang and Zhang Lingfeng also getting on the scoresheet.

In the 48th minute, Meizhou pulled one goal back with two continuous attacks, but the joy did not last long. Four minutes later, Jiangsu again controlled the rhythm and kept the goalkeeper busy. By the 76th minute, Jiangsu has widened the gap to 6-1.

Meizhou's Guo Yi converted a penalty in the 84th minute, but Jiangsu followed closely to steer another header home in the last minute to seal the victory.

In the other game between Tianjin and Guizhou, both teams had chances to score but it remained goalless in the first half. The stalemate was broken in the 78th minute when Tianjin's Qian Yumiao sent the ball via a long pass to Zheng Kaimu in the penalty area, who rose to head the ball into goal.
