SYDNEY - Despite losing chance to advance to the knockout stage, reigning champions of Australia's A-League Sydney FC still hope to score more goals and win the remaining games in the AFC Champions League.
Sydney FC has won one point so far, sitting at the bottom of Group H. Head coach Steve Corica admitted the results were disappointing, but he was satisfied with the team's performance.
"Disappointing obviously, we knew that it was going to be a tough one because we're playing the champions from each country," Corica told the press via a zoom meeting on Monday.
"But I'm pretty pleased with the way we're playing, maybe could have taken more of our chances and scored more goals.”

The Sky Blues will face a second clash with Chinese giants Shanghai SIPG on Wednesday morning (AEDT) after losing 2-1 in their first encounter.
"We will make a few changes for this game. We'll probably make three changes and yeah, rotate the players around a little bit, " Corica said.
"We do want to win a game of course, and we want to win two games… so that will be our aim against SIPG and then it's going to be a short turnaround for the Yokohama (Yokohama F. Marinos) game three days later.”

After finishing their last two games, the Sky Blues will fly back to Sydney on Friday night and start preparing for the upcoming A-league season, drawing on valuable experience from the tournament.
"I think we've created a lot of chances, we defended quite well and with a few players that we've had out I think we gave other players opportunities … there's been quite a bit of positives from this tournament so far," Corica said.
