LONDON - Everton goalkeeper Robin Olsen and his family were threatened with a machete after a gang broke into his home, the club has confirmed on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old, who is on loan from Roma for the season, was at home with his wife and two young children at the time of the attack, which has been reported to Greater Manchester Police.

The robbers threatened the family with a machete before stealing jewelry and a luxury watch.

Olsen and his family were 'shaken, but not physically hurt' by the attack and Everton say they are "offering Robin and his family as much support as possible."

Olsen has recently been out through injury and has not formed part of the Everton matchday squad since his side's 2-0 win over Liverpool on February 20th.

Last month Everton coach Carlo Ancelotti was also the victim of a robbery after two men stole a safe from his house. The safe was later discovered in a car park after having been forced open.
