HONG KONG - Social Seed, a local organization dedicated to providing opportunities for grassroots students, has launched a campaign to support those facing a shortage of pandemic prevention materials in the fifth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the highly transmissible omicron variant has torn through Hong Kong since early last month.
The campaign has received the support of more than 10 corporate organizations to co-sponsor the purchase of pandemic prevention materials for more than 10,000 grassroots families.

According to representatives of the beneficiary schools, many grassroots students may not have the right materials to cope with the ongoing pandemic.
The distribution of anti-viral materials by Social Seed showed the care of the community and played a positive role in Hong Kong society, the beneficiary schools’ representatives said.
“I am very grateful that so many friends and entrepreneurs could respond to all the calls and sponsor the seedling,” said Steven Pun, the convenor of Social Seed.

Companies that participated in the donation of pandemic prevention materials include: ANTA Sports Products, Lukka International, Halo Fund, Optimas, LammaRainbow, Protech Technology, MatrixSense Technology, BricksHouse, GoGo Chart, M4B, Forget Thee Not, Crown Design and the Social Enterprise Institute.
Benefiting from the Chinese University of Hong Kong Alumni Charitable Foundation, Social Seed has organized over 100 online and offline activities since its establishment in 2018, serving more than 100,000 children from grassroots families.
