DALIAN - Newly-promoted Wuhan Three Towns defeated Wuhan Yangtze 3-1 in a local derby, while Shanghai Port beat Guangzhou 1-0 to pocket their thrid straight win in the 2022 Chinese Super League on Wednesday.
Three Towns took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Brazilian forwards Davidson and Marcao, who scored his second goal of the match in the 57th minute.
Asmir Kajevic netted a consolation goal in the 87th minute for Yangtze, but was not enough to save the team's unbeaten run this season.
With the win, Three Towns overtook Yangtze on top of the 18-team table with 10 points from four games.
After a tense confrontation in the first half, Feng Jin accidently turned a long pass to a winner for Shanghai in the 51st minute, passing Guangzhou's 19-year-old goalkeeper Huo Shenping, who was making his CSL debut.
"This is a lucky score, but I believe we have been making progress in every match and going straight forward to our goals," said Feng. "We will help our international teammates to quickly adapt."
