WARSAW - Serbia qualified for the semifinals of the FIVB Women's World Championship as the reigning champions took a massive victory over Poland 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 24-26, 16-14) while the United States smashed Türkiye 3-0 in Gliwice, Poland on Tuesday.
In the evening match, the spectators saw a fierce battle between the teams' leaders as Poland opposite Magdalena Stysiak scored 40 points with 34 kills, three blocks and three aces, while Serbian star Tijana Boskovic earned just four points less

The tournament co-hosts were on course to make a surprise as they won the opening part 25-21. Daniele Santarelli's team fought until the end but Poland kept up the pressure. Outside hitter Weronika Szlagowska didn't make a mistake in attack, while Olivia Rozanski blocked their rivals to close the set.

Title favorites Serbia dominated in the second set as their leading player Tijana Boskovic showed quality to lead her team to level the score.
Then the visitors continued their momentum as they smashed Poland 25-19 to led 2-1, earning six consecutive points to kill Poland's hopes of being in front. Setter Bojana Drca served into the net but then Boskovic spiked well for 25-19.
The fourth set turned out to be a real thriller as the visitors were very close to the overall win. Poland thwarted their first set point at 24-23, but then Stysiak found a line with a powerful spike, while outside hitter Brankica Mihajlovic hit into the net and the hosts won 26-24 to move the game into a tie-break.

It was middle blocker Jovana Stevanovic who took center stage in the key moment of the match. The 30-year-old attacked well from the right side and a moment later she delivered an ace as Maria Stenzel reacted too late to receive the ball. The visitors took a massive victory 16-14 in the tie-break to win the match 3-2.
In the semifinal, the reigning champions will face the United States who beat Türkiye in straight sets 25-22, 25-15, 25-20 earlier in the day.

Outside hitter Alexandra Frantti led the American offence with a match-high 18 points as she registered 15 kills, one block and two aces. Türkiye's Ebrar Karakurt scored 16.
