BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN / YANGON / SINGAPORE / HANOI / ISLAMABAD / MANILA / KUALA LUMPUR / NEW DELHI / SEOUL - Brunei logged a daily average of 388 new COVID-19 cases in the past week compared to 307 cases per day the week before, an increase of three consecutive weeks, official statistics released on Monday showed.
According to the health ministry's weekly briefing, 40,321 antigen rapid test test results were uploaded to the government platform within one week, with 6.7 percent of them being positive.
Currently, no hospitalized cases are held in the intensive care unit and no cases require oxygen assistance, the health ministry said.
As of Oct 16, 78.6 percent of Brunei's population have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while 10.7 percent have taken the fourth dose.

India
India's daily COVID-19 caseload Tuesday decreased to 1,542, officials said.
According to federal health ministry data released on Tuesday morning, 1,542 new cases of COVID-19 were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,632,430 in the country.
The cases reported on Tuesday mark a decrease in comparison to the daily caseload of 2,060 on Monday.
The country also logged eight related deaths during the past 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 528,913 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
Malaysia
Malaysia reported 1,210 new COVID-19 infections, as of midnight Monday, bringing the national total to 4,868,402, according to the health ministry.
There is one new imported case, with 1,209 cases being local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.
Six new deaths have been reported, pushing the death toll at 36,423.

Myanmar
Myanmar confirmed 284 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the tally to 628,861, the country's Ministry of Health said on Monday.
The ministry said in a statement that the death toll from COVID-19 in the country reached 19,471 on Monday as one new death was reported.
Pakistan
Pakistan recorded 38 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, its ministry of health said on Monday.
The overall tally of infected people increased to 1,573,403 after adding the new cases, according to data released by the ministry.
A total of 30,621 people have died of COVID-19 in Pakistan, with one new death reported in the country during the last 24 hours, according to the ministry.

Philippines
The Philippines reported 1,938 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 3,984,815.
The Department of Health said the number of active cases dropped to 25,848, while 37 more patients died from COVID-19 complications, taking the death toll to 63,547.
Metro Manila, the Philippine capital with over 13 million people, tallied 743 new cases.

Singapore
Singapore reported 5,196 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total tally to 2,017,261.
Of the new cases, 522 were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 4,674 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the country's Ministry of Health.
Among the PCR cases, 503 were local transmissions and 19 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 4,525 local transmissions and 149 imported cases.
Two new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Monday, taking the total death toll to 1,646.

South Korea
South Korea reported 33,248 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 25,164,695, the health authorities said Tuesday.
The daily caseload was up from 11,040 in the previous day and higher than 15,466 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 24,236.
Among the new cases, 87 were imported from overseas, lifting the total to 68,942.
Six more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 28,856. The total fatality rate was 0.11 percent.

Vietnam
Vietnam recorded 673 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, up by 348 from Sunday, according to its ministry of health.
All the new cases were locally transmitted, said the health ministry.
The newly reported infections brought the total tally to 11,493,271. The country reported two new deaths from the pandemic in the central coastal Binh Thuan and southern Tay Ninh provinces on Monday, bringing the total fatalities to 43,157.
