S. Korea's Seoul plans to bid for 2036 Summer Olympics

SEOUL - The government of Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, has said that it plans to bid to host the Summer Olympic Games in 2036.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said Tuesday that the city government was preparing to refurbish areas around the Jamsil Olympic Stadium, which he called a symbol of the Seoul-hosted Summer Olympics in 1988, adding that it will be a new start to brace for another Seoul Olympics.

The 26th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has been underway in Seoul from Tuesday, and the Seoul mayor will reportedly meet with the visiting IOC President Thomas Bach during the four-day ANOC event.
