CBA: Li An saves the day for Jilin in final seconds

ZHUJI, China - With a game-changing three-pointer from Li An, the Jilin Northeast Tigers won a hard-fought game against the Fujian Sturgeons 107-104 in the 2022-23 season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Wednesday.

Jilin was leading 104-101 with 39 seconds on the clock. Tian Guisen tied the game with a three-pointer in a fast break and Li put Jilin ahead again through an answer ball with 17 seconds left to go. As Tian's another attempt bounced off the basket, Jilin players were able to celebrate their first victory after four consecutive defeats.

Jilin's Dominique Jones actualized an amazing triple-double, registering 38 points, 12 rebounds, and 16 assists. Li added 24 points.

Fierce competition continued in the third quarter, as the Jilin Northeast Tigers's Dominique Jones went tit-for-tat with the Fujian Sturgeons's Chen Linjian and Darius Adams. In the last two minutes, Fujian's three-pointers overwhelmed Jilin's defense again and took the game to 83-72 before the final 12 minutes

On the Fujian side, Darius Adams pocketed a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Tian also contributed 24 points, with six three-pointers.

Fujian dominated the first quarter with a flurry of three-pointers. Tian led a 9-0 run for Fujian, who ended the first quarter with a 32-23 lead.

Jilin rebounded soon in the second quarter. Liu Tianyi and Cui Jinming took turns to challenge Fujian defense, while Ding Haoran overturned Fujian's advantage with two free throws one minute before half time. The Sturgeons fought hard to regain their lead at 55-52.

Jones led a ferocious 9-0 run for Jilin to overtake Fujian by three points, before Li An rose to the occasion for his team's eventually victory.

Wednesday saw two more close games, with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers edging the Shenzhen Aviators 92-91 and the Shanghai Sharks defeating the Jiangsu Dragons 90-84.

In the other fixtures on Wednesday, the Shanxi Loongs smashed the Qingdao Eagles 114-99, the Guangzhou Loong Lions crushed the Ningbo Rockets 105-84, and the Shandong Heroes cruised past the Zhejiang Lions 109-85.
