MADRID - FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid on Friday confirmed the transfer of Dutch international striker Memphis Depay to Atletico.

Depay moved to Atletico for a fee of around three million euros, plus a further million euros depending on fulfilling objectives and he has signed a contract until the end of June 2025.

The deal also gives Barcelona the opportunity to sign Atletico's Belgian international winger Yannick Carrasco in the summer, for a price believed to be between 15 and 20 million euros.

The transfer has finally been made official a day after 28-year-old Depay arrived in the Spanish capital and the forward took part in Wednesday's training session with his new teammates.

He leaves Barcelona after moving to the Camp Nou on a free transfer from Olympique de Lyon at the request of former Barca coach Ronald Koeman, and scored 13 goals in 38 appearances. However, he fell down the pecking order after the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last January and struggled with injuries this current season.

Atletico hope the forward will provide cover after the departure of Joao Felix to Chelsea.
