Viviani wins stage 6 of 2023 Tour of Qinghai Lake

HAIYAN, China - Attilio Viviani, riding for Italy's Corratec Selle Italia, emerged victorious in the sixth stage of the 2023 Tour of Qinghai Lake, clocking in four hours, 53 minutes, and 34 seconds on Friday.

Marked as the longest stage of this year's race, the sixth stage spanned 206 kilometers from Qilian to Xihai. The route encompassed two intermediate sprints and two climbs, reaching a zenith of 3,869 meters in altitude.

Belgium's Tarteletto-Isorex rider Timothy Dupont and Enrico Zanoncello from the Italian Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizane team finished in second and third places, respectively.

The jersey leaders remain unchanged. Wilmar Andres Paredes Zapata from Colombia's Medellin continued to wear the yellow jersey, holding the top position in the General Individual classification.

Henok Mulueberhan and Alessio Nieri, both riding for Italian Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizane, held onto the green jersey and the polka-dot jersey, respectively. China Glory Continental Cycling Team's Lyu Xianjing kept the Best Asian Rider's blue jersey.

The race will proceed with the seventh stage on Saturday, beginning in Xihai and concluding in Gonghe.
