JEDDAH - The talks on the Ukraine crisis concluded on Sunday in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah, where participants called for continuing international efforts to build a common ground for peace, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The participants also emphasized the importance of benefiting from views and positive suggestions presented during the two-day meeting.

European officials have said participants planned to establish working groups to address specific problems raised by the conflict

The meeting, chaired by Saudi Minister of State and National Security Adviser Musaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, was attended by security advisers and representatives from more than 40 countries and international organizations, including China and the United Nations.

Saudi Arabia's Media Ministry said participants had agreed on the importance of continuing consultations to pave the way for peace. European officials have said participants planned to establish working groups to address specific problems raised by the conflict.

Speaking about the Jeddah talks, Ukraine President Volodymir Zelenskiy's head of staff Andriy Yermak said different viewpoints emerged during the talks in Saudi Arabia, calling them "an extremely honest, open conversation".

He said all the countries present had demonstrated a commitment to the principles of international law and respect for the sovereignty and inviolability of the territorial integrity of states, reports Reuters.

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy secretary of Russia's Security Council, said that a peace proposal can have a chance of success only if both sides of the conflict participate, the historical context is considered, and the current realities are taken into account.
