HONG KONG — A dynamic dance drama depicting touching stories of ordinary people throughout China’s 40-year opening up is going to be staged in Hong Kong next month, as part of the city’s celebrations for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.

At the invitation of the Leisure and Culture Services Department (LCSD), over 100 members of the China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater will visit Hong Kong and stage its original contemporary dance drama Tide of Era.

The dance drama breaks the usual patterns and applies innovative modern dance concepts in dance vocabulary, delivering the power of a changing era with its unique tidal wave-like group dances, as well as its delicate solo dances and pas de deux

Directed by national first-class choreographer Tong Ruirui, the realism-themed dance drama starring dozens of talented performers has been well-received since its premiere in 2021.
