People across China celebrated the first day of National Day holiday in different ways, with the Ministry of Transport expecting a total of 490 million during the "golden week" holiday travel rush.
A daily average of 15 million people are also expected to crisscross China via the country's sprawling railway network for sightseeing and family reunions from Sept 29 to Oct 6, the China State Railway Group said.
