World leaders start arriving for Belt and Road forum

BEIJING - World leaders have started arriving in Beijing to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation

Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Pakistan's Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Lao President and Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Thongloun Sisoulith, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet arrived on Monday.

Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape, President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly and Nigerian Vice-President Kashim Shettima also arrived on Monday.

On Sunday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Chilean President Gabriel Boric and Kenyan President William Ruto arrived in the Chinese capital.

The forum will be held in Beijing from Tuesday to Wednesday with the theme "High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity."
