DAMASCUS - Eight Syrian military personnel were killed and seven wounded Wednesday in the southern province of Daraa by an Israeli missile attack, the Syrian army said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Israeli assault was launched at approximately 1:45 am local time (2245 GMT) from the direction of the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, targeting military installations in the countryside of Daraa.
The strike also inflicted material losses in the targeted positions.

The attack is the fourth this month to hit the airport.

This comes amid growing tension in the region against the backdrop of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Since Oct 7, when the Israeli campaign against Gaza started, Israel attacked the Aleppo airport four times and the Damascus airport twice.
Aleppo airport was previously hit on Oct 12, 14, and 22, and was due to open after repairs following the last strike.
Syria has vehemently condemned the Israeli attacks.
