HONG KONG – Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu announced on Saturday that he will deliver his Policy Address on Oct 16.

The announcement came as he wrapped up a visit to Wong Tai Sin to gather public views on his upcoming Policy Address.

A public consultation for the Chief Executive's 2024 Policy Address was launched on July 16. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government held consultation sessions and conducted district visits to meet the public to listen to their views.

In Wong Tai Sin, the CE visited a community pharmacy, a Chinese medicine services center, the District Health Centre (DHC), and a restaurant on Saturday to learn more about the primary healthcare facilities and services in the district.

Secretary for Health Professor Lo Chung-mau, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen, and Director of Home Affairs Alice Cheung Chiu Hoi-yue joined relevant parts of the visit.

After visiting the Wong Tai Sin District Health Centre, the CE said the current term government has been progressively revamping the healthcare system to actualize the objective of the Primary Healthcare Blueprint of shifting the focus of the healthcare system from its present treatment-oriented, hospital-based structure to a prevention-focused, community-based one.

With more than 290,000 members joining the DHCs and DHC Expresses across the city, it reflects that the DHCs have been gradually building a primary healthcare service network which begins to take shape in the community, he said.
