Permits and licenses issued by authorities in the Hengqin Cooperation Zone must bear the terms “Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin” or “Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Guangdong province” from now on, the zone’s executive committee has declared.
The amendment was made to dovetail with the strategic positioning of the cooperation zone outlined in the Overall Plan for the Development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, which is an innovative mechanism to facilitate the all-front synergy between Guangdong and Macao.

The committee’s notice highlights the necessity for the specification and standardization of naming practices, following inconsistencies previously observed within the zone.
Variations included references such as “Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Zhuhai city,” “Hengqin, Zhuhai city,” “Hengqin Town of Xiangzhou County, Zhuhai city,” “Hengqin New Area, Zhuhai city”.
To streamline the amendment process while also ensuring continuity of service, permits and licenses issued prior to Jan 2 that contain ill-formed designations will still be deemed legitimate within their respective validity periods.
