BEIJING - Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Thursday congratulated Micheal Martin on his role as Irish taoiseach for a second time.
China and Ireland, which have a profound friendship and enjoy broad prospects for cooperation, are both firm forces to promote world peace, stability, development and prosperity, said Li in a message.

The Chinese premier expressed his willingness to work with Martin to continuously consolidate political mutual trust and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries so as to push the China-Ireland strategic partnership for mutually beneficial cooperation to a new level.
Martin first served as the Irish taoiseach between 2020 and 2022.
