MADRID - FC Barcelona announced on Friday that left-back Gerard Martin has signed a new contract to remain at the club until June 2028.

The 22-year-old has impressed in his breakthrough season in the first team, making 18 appearances after his promotion from the B-team.

"This means everything for me," the defender told the Barcelona website. "I've been a Barcelona supporter ever since I was little and when I came here, I had the hope of getting into the first team. It's very difficult, but I have managed it and I am happy."

"I will continue working hard and take the chances that I get," said Martin, adding his aim was "to win as many titles as we can."
