HK residents can claim Shenzhen subsidies for home appliances, digital goods
By Wang Zhan

Hong Kong and Macau residents can benefit from the Shenzhen government's subsidy program for home appliances and digital products.

Residents of the special administrative regions can apply for the subsidy if they have a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents – commonly known as "Home Return Card" (回乡证) – a Chinese mainland mobile phone number and a mainland bank account.

The central government and local governments across the nation have launched trade-in or subsidy programs to boost consumption and stimulate domestic demand. Most of the programs require registration using a mainland ID.

Hong Kong's neighboring city Shenzhen, however, allows Hong Kong and Macau residents to share the bounty. Like their Shenzhen counterparts, they can secure coupons saving up to 500 yuan per item. The program will last until the end of the year.

Here is how to claim the government-subsidized discount

1) Download UnionPay App (云闪付) (Interface in Chinese).

2) Complete the real name registration.

3) Set your location to Shenzhen.

4) Click on “鹏城优惠券” (Shenzhen coupons).

5) Click on “2025 深圳市家电数码补贴活动” (2025 Shenzhen Subsidy Program for Home Appliance and Digital Products).

6) Complete the coupon registration process, which require the number of the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents, a mainland mobile phone and a mainland bank account under the name.

7) Select the category of products you are interested in.

8) The coupons thus claimed should be used within three days. The payment should be made through the UnionPay app.
