The Hong Kong men's curling team secured fourth place at the Asian Winter Games as it concluded on Friday, marking the best performance by the Hong Kong delegation in the history of the Games.

This is the first time the Hong Kong curling team has competed at the quadrennial international winter competition.

In the bronze medal curling match on Friday morning, Hong Kong athletes suffered a 3-10 defeat against the Chinese national team, narrowly missing out on the city’s first medal in the competition.

The city’s men’s curling team advanced to the knockout stage after finishing second in the group matches, with four wins in five games, only losing to the national team.

They proceeded to the quarterfinals and secured an 8-5 victory over Kazakhstan, historically earning a spot in the semifinals. However, they were defeated 2-13 by the South Korean team, missing out on the finals and entering the battle for the bronze medal.

The Hong Kong men’s curling team included skipper Jason Chang, Martin Yan Ho-tin, Cheng Ching-nam, Chung Cheuk-hei, and Ma Chi-lap.

The 12-day Asian Winter Games will conclude with the closing ceremony at 8 pm. on Friday, with local radio television broadcasting the event live.
