BANGKOK - Thailand attaches great importance to international cooperation in combating transnational crimes such as online gambling and fraud, Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa were quoted as having said recently, stressing that Thailand is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China.
The Chinese Embassy in Thailand said on Monday night that Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Han Zhiqiang had in-depth discussions with Phumtham and Maris regarding cooperation in combating online gambling and fraud crimes in Myawaddy and other places and rescuing trapped Chinese citizens during his recent meeting and contact with the two.
Han noted that during Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's recent official visit to China, the leaders of the two countries jointly expressed their firm determination to combat online gambling, fraud and derivative transnational crimes. The law enforcement departments of the two countries have taken prompt actions, yielding initial positive results.

Han expressed the hope that the two sides will cooperate more closely in the future, work together with other relevant parties to strengthen the cooperation mechanism, intensify the actions, and eradicate the cross-border crimes that seriously endanger people's property and life safety.
In response, Phumtham and Maris emphasized that Thailand attaches great importance to international cooperation in combating transnational crimes such as online gambling and fraud, and has taken a series of effective measures.
