Xinhua, HKSAR govt to further deepen cooperation

HONG KONG - President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met with John Lee Ka-chiu, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), on Thursday, and reached a broad consensus on further deepening cooperation.

As the state news agency, Xinhua has profound historical ties and enjoys a solid foundation of cooperation with Hong Kong, witnessing and participating in the development of the city at various historic stages, Fu said.

The current administration of the HKSAR government, since its establishment, has united and led various sectors of society to work in a proactive and practical manner, consolidating a positive trend of stable development in Hong Kong, he said.

Fu expressed hope for both sides to further enhance communication and cooperation, deeply understand the requirements of further leveraging the institutional advantages of "one country, two systems", and tell the success stories of Hong Kong during the practice of this principle, helping Hong Kong to reinforce and elevate its unique position and advantages, and shine brighter in the new era.
