BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping extended congratulations on Sunday to Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah on the country's 41th anniversary of independence.
In his congratulatory message, Xi pointed out that China and Brunei enjoy a time-honored friendship, and the two countries have deepened political mutual trust and achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than 30 years ago, setting an example for equality and win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes.
Xi said that during Hassanal's successful state visit to China not long ago, the two countries reached an important consensus on the building of a China-Brunei community with a shared future, opening a new chapter in China-Brunei cooperation.
