Beijing: Fabricating discord in Sino-Russian relations doomed to fail
By Mo Jingxi

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Thursday that attempts by the United States to sow discord between China and Russia are doomed to fail, in response to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's recent concerns over China-Russia ties.

Speaking to media outlet Breitbart News, Rubio warned that closer ties between China and Russia would pose a problem for the US, saying that China and Russia, both nuclear powers, could join hands against the US.

"The relationship between China and Russia, as two major countries, is driven by strong internal dynamics and will not be affected by any third party," Lin said, noting that the development strategies and foreign policies of both nations are oriented towards long-term cooperation.

"Despite changes in the international situation, the China-Russia relationship will continue to move forward steadily. Attempts by the US to sow discord between China and Russia are entirely in vain," he said.
