BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.41 percent to 3,379.83 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.33 percent higher at 10,861.16 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.48 trillion yuan ($206.3 billion), down from 1.51 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to military electronics and minor metals led the gains, while those in the medical service and lithography machine sectors suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.19 percent to close at 2,204.03 points.
