BEIJING - Chinese Premier Li Qiang has congratulated Stuart Young on Friday on his assuming office as prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
In his message, Li said that China and Trinidad and Tobago enjoy a profound traditional friendship. In recent years, relations between the two countries have maintained a good momentum of development, seeing fruitful practical cooperation in various fields and a deeper friendship between the two peoples, he noted.

Li spoke highly of Young's role as a key participant in and promoter of the development of China-Trinidad and Tobago ties.

The Chinese government attaches great significance to relations with Trinidad and Tobago, regards it as a comprehensive cooperative partner in the Caribbean, Li said, adding that he is ready to work with Young to elevate friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries to higher levels so as to better benefit the two peoples.
