John Lee to attend Boao Forum in Hainan

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu is set to depart for Hainan on Tuesday to participate in this year’s Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, themed “Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future”.

Lee will take part in the opening plenary session and is slated to deliver a speech at the Global Free Trade Port Development Forum.

Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong will also attend the conference and will address another forum, titled “Enhancing Digital Capacity Building and Bridging the Digital Divide”.

As part of the visit, Lee will bear witness to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Hong Kong SAR government and the People’s Government of Hainan province.

Also taking part in the visit will be Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing and Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Clement Woo.

Lee is expected to return to Hong Kong on Thursday. In his absence, Chief Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-ki will assume the role of Acting CE.
