Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday that China is open to welcoming more members of the United States Congress, as well as Americans from various sectors, to visit the country and see it firsthand.

Guo's remarks came after US Republican Senator Steve Daines said in a recent interview that he would like to arrange a bipartisan delegation of US senators to China later this year after David Perdue is confirmed as the US ambassador to China.

"China welcomes more members of the US Congress and people from various sectors to visit and see for themselves. This will help them gain an objective understanding of China and play a constructive role in promoting the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-US relations," Guo said.
