The June forum, co-organized by BFA and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, will focus on global innovation and technology and serve as a high-level international platform for collaboration and exchanges, said Sun Dong, secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong SAR government.
Under the theme “Technology Leads the Future, Innovation Drives Transformation”, the forum is to aim at driving technological transformation and shaping the future by making the best use of the city’s advantages.
It is expected to delve into in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including global innovation ecosystem, global technology governance, technological innovation, and upgrade of industrial chains under new quality productive forces. Additionally, the event will also explore cutting-edge fields such as life sciences, artificial intelligence, future mobility, and quantum technology.
Leong Vai-tac, former secretary for economy and finance of the Macao SAR government, said that the forum can review the latest developments of global technology growth, future trends and opportunities, as well as potential risks in global scientific and technological innovation.
BFA established the International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum in 2019 to strengthen global governance in science and technology, promote international innovation cooperation, and accelerate the implementation of the UN SDGs.
The forum has been held in rotation among cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with three sessions in Macao (2020), Guangzhou (2022), and Zhuhai (2023).
