SANAA - At least one person was killed and five others wounded in fresh US airstrikes on Yemen's capital Sanaa on Sunday evening, Houthi-run health authorities said in a statement.

The evening strikes came as the Yemen-based militant group claimed earlier in the day responsibility for three attacks on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea and another strike on the Ben Gurion airport in central Israel, which was reportedly intercepted by Israeli defense systems.
The Houthis have controlled much of northern Yemen, including Sanaa, since the onset of its fight against the internationally-recognized government in 2014.

Tensions between the Houthis and the US military have escalated since Washington launched fresh airstrikes on Yemen on March 15. The strikes followed Houthi threats to resume attacks on Israeli targets unless humanitarian aid is allowed into the Gaza Strip and the siege on the enclave is lifted.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said American airstrikes against the Houthis would continue "for a long time."
